Samsung Jet Ultra

The Jet Ultra is a nice little compact phone with a good set of features. On board you’ll find MP3, WiFi, a 5 mega pixel camera with Dual LED flash and much more.

The real question is what about the Jet makes it worth considering when there are already so many other touch screen phones similar to this out there on the market? Well lets find out shall we?

Construction and Build:

The Jet Ultra is a nice little compact handset. It’s a very typical Samsung design and pretty much exactly what you’d expect. It feels solid enough and is a little thicker than the usual Samsung line up but it still looks smart and has a decent sized screen onboard.

One major let down is the handset does feel pretty fragile. It’s mostly made from plastic and one drop and you could be saying goodbye to your phone! But I guess that’s why cases were invented.

Camera:

The camera is pretty impressive with a very quick image capture as soon as you hit the shutter key. The auto focus and dual LED are really handy to use also and the over all feel is that the camera really performs above average.

When using the view finder to check out captured images you can use double tap commands to focus on certain areas. After capturing a couple of shots I was able to zoom in on the picture and noticed relatively little loss of quality. Pretty impressive.

UI & OS:

There’s nothing massively groundbreaking here. As with most Samsung touch screen phones you will notice straight away that there are multiple home screens which you can flick through and customise with your own little widgets. The overall experience is enhanced by the fact that this phone is very responsive.

The browser is a major let down on the Jet Ultra. The display is very cramped with menu’s all over the place which really clutters the screen. The browser itself is very responsive to touch input which is handy but the HTML/Wap just looks very bland and archaic. It doesn’t really cut it.

For the texters amongst you you’ll find the Jet ultra a joy to use. The qwerty keypad works very well and all touch commands are very responsive. The accelerometer responds efficiently with no lag when switching between landscape and portrait. You’ll even be able to use the handwriting recognition on this phone because it works impressively well!

Media:

The multimedia features on this device all perform well. The audio loud speaker is very impressive and there is no lost quality even when playing at full volume. For video playback you have a very clear display and when browsing your music you have a cover flow navigation.

Conclusion:

All in all the Jet Ultra Edition is a nice enough handset. It doesn’t do anything groundbreaking but it’s still a nice little compact touch screen phone, perfect for you posers out there! It’s worth picking up and having a play with if you’re not after something that does everything under the sun. Performance wise this handset wont let you down. So why not nip into a store today and see what you think?
